An American citizen living legally in Ukraine arrested by the Zelensky regime, tortured for eight months, then killed, only for a) having a YouTube channel, b) speaking out against the Zelensky regime relative to the war giving war analysis. US embassy refused to intervene. The injustice of the war is on the side of the US, NATO, and Zelensky. Yet during a war a government can legitimately detain who they consider critics of the government for disrupting the war effort, but they can’t torture and kill the person. There are saints, heroes, and good men in this world. Lira was no saint, but he knew he was putting his life at risk as a truth teller, which makes him a hero, plus I always found him to be an honest and sincere man. He offered a lot of on-the-ground information about the war that I thought was very helpful. This was terrible news. May he rest in peace.
