Praise God. We recovered our stolen car and it’s drivable and not trashed, except for the broken steering column, a broken window, and a handle they broke through to break in.
Puts my mind to ease knowing I had to have locked the car the night it was stolen, otherwise they wouldn’t have had to break in. Probably $150 to have put in a used window, then later the handle and a used ignition that they tore out. So I expect to still drive it, starting it with pliers.
I did leave a couple messages for the detective making a case for investigating the theft, to take fingerprints on items they left in the vehicle, but no return call, me expecting they have larger fish to fry and won’t pursue the thug or thugs. Is what it is.
I’ll pray some imprecatory psalms though the Divine Judge brings down His divine justice on them, as I trust He will. As a side note, my wife and I have differing opinions why they targeted our car. I tend to think it is because Hyundais are easy to steal, which the police told me, but my wife tends to think they targeted our car because there was a statue of Mary on the dashboard, and a rosary hanging from the rear view mirror, both of which they removed, she thinking they were in part at least anti-Catholic.
God knows, but that is a plausible motive considering anti-Catholicism is common in the US today for our moral and supernatural beliefs, but also considering Oklahoma’s anti-Catholic history. It’s a moment of pause about to what degree you should risk retaliations for proclaiming your faith in public, but also a reminder that persecutions are inevitable, considering the command to proclaim the Faith.
