I identify as an independent. I am technically registered Republican only to be able to vote in the primaries for Trump, but I do not support many of the policies of the GOP, therefore not truly identifying as a member. I only give them relative support from a distance as the lesser of two evil parties.
I am a paleo-conservative, which means I strongly believe in a moderate nationalism but through the lens of the traditional culture of Western civilization, both European and European-American. I oppose cultural modernism, cultural progressivism, and neo-conservatism, even under the guise of conservatism. I am not an isolationist, but a non-interventionist.
I am a semi-libertarian. I believe today it is a sacred imperative to protect the rights of families over government control of their lives and values. But I don’t elevate individual liberty as an absolute as does libertarianism or believe in a tiny government just protecting our borders and building streets, with little role in outlawing gross immorality against the common good.
I am therefore also a classical liberal, but opposed to big government socialism. It is imperative to protect individual rights, the rights of the family, a free market, and also to help the poor and oppressed, based on traditional Catholic social doctrine (pre-Vatican Council II).
This is because I come from a long line of Irish American Catholics who were Democrat. If I voted Democrat today, I risk falling into mortal sin and damning my soul. But I could have been an old school Democrat back in the day.
That said I will always be a social conservative, absolutely pro-life, anti-sodomy, anti-feminism, anti-socialism, pro-traditional gender roles, pro-traditional marriage/family, upholding the Ten Commandments in the public sphere, especially against sexual immorality of all kinds, and godlessness in popular culture.
I believe the ideal form of government is a mixed regime, with a monarchy, aristocracy, and elected democracy subordinated to the king. But I reject philosophically so-called liberal democracy forced on us by the elites, but favor instead classical democracy as from the Greeks. The People have a right to participate in government, but government must be run primarily by extraordinarily wise and virtuous men, which the common man by definition is not. I would settle for now for a constitutional republic of aristocrats, and a local based economic system based on subsidiarity, with the notion of religious tolerance (vs the false idea of religious liberty as an absolute universal civil right).
I also believe the political entity or nation-state called the “USA” as such is dead, that it gradually died since the 1960’s, and finally expired and was replaced by a Communist Banana Republic on January 6th, 2020. I therefore support all lawful and moral means of considering secession one day, where the red states and blue states are two different nations. For the red states to form an officially Christian and socially conservative government.
Though as an Oklahoman, I have to wonder how red Oklahoma really is, vs purple, in our politically dumbed down indifferent, hedonistic culture, and that as we speak the state legislature is considering the legalization of recreational marijuana, which even if not passed, signals a morally degenerate culture.
So there you have it.
