This week we are treated once again to the never-ending Church Militant Voris/Niles Witch-Hunt of the SSPX. While I'm generally trying to abstain from all the latest sensationalist internet "Catholic news," this hit home for me.
At this point, given CM's track history, I'm treating every "story" they spread as probable calumny, and paid-for opposition against the Society, giving every priest they target the benefit of the doubt as being "innocent until proven guilty," and that each case will be handled with due diligence by the proper authorities in the SSPX.
Yet, as some of their original videos did show, even though mixed with slander and distortions, with obviously hateful intentions, it must be admitted there has been cases of sex abuse and mismanagement in the Society, which must be ended once and for all, to safeguard souls under the care of Society priests. All of which, by the way, is simply to echo what the SSPX has already publicly stated. And which I am confident is in fact the general attitude of laity who attend their Masses.
The CM anti-SSPX crusade, however, does not even remotely discredit the integrity or trustworthiness of the Society as a whole, which Voris/Niles condemn irrationally as a "pedo cult," that is all the priests and laity alike en masse. What the abuses show is that the devil has struck every sector of the human element of the Church. And that includes those in charge of the Church Militant website.
Pray for the Society to weather this, to receive justice in the future, and that this unholy crusade by CM will one day be brought to a decisive end.
