May he rest in peace. I pray he died in God's grace.
May the next pope by some miracle be one who helps restore the Church. Praying it is Cardinal Sarah or the like. Miracles do happen. But I’ve prepared myself for a Pope Francis II. We we will find out soon.
Here is my blog post discussing why Cardinal Sarah would be our best hope: LINK
I feel a certain sadness today. I am sad the pope died, because he was the pope, or if we found out one day with certainty he wasn’t a valid pope, he at least publicly represented the Office of St. Peter. I am also sad for him because we have no sign of contrition in his last days for the great harm he has caused. But even more than all of the above, this is a time for every Catholic to be sad because we are now in a state of Sede Vacante. The Chair is empty. The Church at present has no pope. While the post-Vatican II state of the Church is truly dark, the Church eclipsed by a modernist establishment, for now it is even darker now that there is no pope. Certainly it is true to say that there is a certain relief we can now feel, at least for a little while, from the reign of terror, but still at present the Church finds herself in a state of grief over the state of the Church, and what will almost certainly be coming soon, and that is “Francis-Church” 2.0.
We need a pope faithful to the constant teachings of the Church, to ecclesiastical tradition, and to the remnant of faithful Catholics. One who will one day squarely look at and correct the problems of the Council, official post-conciliar reform, and the liturgical reform. We have to believe this will one day happen, because it must happen. This Crisis was caused first and foremost by the conciliar popes, at times through neglect and at times through willful action. Therefore, ending this Crisis, and restoring the Church, ultimately will depend on a top-down restoration from the pope. This is a lot to pray for right now.
