As in now. Today, 3/5/21. Without delay. If world war doesn't break out, then you have a surplus of food to eat. However much savings you have, this is priority #1 at this moment. As the Boy Scouts say, "Be Prepared." Food and gas prices about to sky rocket. You cannot afford to delay prepping if you haven't done any prepping yet.
10 Action Items the Last Minute Prepper Should Do Immediately:
1. Go down to Costco or wherever, and buy as many hundreds (or thousands) of dollars worth of food as you can. Cheap, nutritious, long shelf life. Include liquor to use for barter.
2. Get yourself a few 50 gallon drums from Home Depot or wherever and fill them up with water, stored indoors, like your garage. Prepare to fill your bathtubs and sinks with water if/when the sh*t hits the fan, and use hot water tank water. Also some Clorox, to sterilize creek water.
3. Get a camping stove and a few months supply of propane. A couple of those BBQ propane tanks + a hose to connect to a Coleman stove (my favorite). Radiation contaminates outdoor firewood.
4. Buy a few cheap 5 gallon containers, fill them with gas ASAP, and store them away safely. Gas will be your life blood, depending on your bug out plans.
5. Have other survival basics: duck tape (to seal windows and doors), batteries, flashlights, (forget toilet paper, just use a rag), lighters.
6. Have home protection.
7. Get radiation masks and suits. And/or make homemade ones, that are better than nothing.
8. Prepare mentally a bug out plan a) immediate plan, to get as far away from the city as you can, b) then plan where to go once it's safe (enough) to go outside, c) then long term survival plan (hunting/fishing gear, ax, knife, tent, etc) for the worst case scenario.
9. Stay as close as you can to a validly ordained priest, for the sacraments. Pray for God's mercy. Prepare for God's justice.
10. Stay calm. Focus on the family and the Faith. Calmly, methodically take the appropriate steps, then sit back and enjoy God's blessings, living as normally as you can.
